Valid CSS Web Colors You Never Knew Existed

13 Dec 2012

I very rarely find myself writing actual color names in my CSS, favoring hex or rgba colors (for obvious reasons). The only time I ever enter an actual color name in the code is when I'm mocking something up and just want to see some color filled in to make sure everything is connected correctly. Other than that, it seems that limiting yourself to color:green and background-color:blue leaves almost no room for creativity. However, there may be more that you can do with color names than you think. There are many shades of colors that actually have real color names supported, but no one seems to know about them. Here's a set of the most interesting and unusual to get you started.
